Asbestos Survey Services
There are several distinct types of asbestos survey and related service — each with different legal requirements, scope, and cost. Use this guide to understand which service you need.
Management Survey
The standard survey for occupied buildings. Identifies ACMs that could be disturbed during normal use. Required for all non-domestic premises under CAR 2012.
Refurbishment Survey
Required before any renovation or building work begins. Fully intrusive — accesses wall cavities, floor voids, and roof spaces to sample all materials.
Demolition Survey
Legally mandatory before any building is demolished. The most comprehensive survey type — samples every area of the structure before demolition proceeds.
Air Testing
Measures the concentration of asbestos fibres in air. Clearance tests are required after all licensed removal work before an area can be reoccupied.
Asbestos Register & Management Plan
The formal written record of all ACMs in a building. A legal requirement for all non-domestic premises. Must be made available to all contractors.
Material Sampling & Analysis
Physical samples taken from suspect materials and analysed in a UKAS-accredited laboratory. The only reliable way to confirm or rule out asbestos.
